Remediation of and compensation for mining damage

By request of the Ministry of the Environment, the following activities are being or were carried out within the framework of the project:

At the beginning of 2021, we carried out a procurement for the analysis, preparation of standard designs, and an action plan for the remediation of sinkholes and collapsed areas of closed oil shale mines. The work was carried out by Engineering Bureau Steiger.

By the end of 2021, a survey to assess the damage to buildings caused as result of subsidence in areas in Ida-Viru County subject to underground mining was completed as a result of the procurement. The survey was carried out by OÜ Ekif.

In 2022, the priority sinkholes in the areas subject to underground mining will be eliminated and remediated, pursuant to the work prepared by Engineering Bureau Steiger in 2021.
