The environmental awareness programme is a part of the Environmental Programme and grants are applied for and projects implemented in accordance with the Environmental Programmes rules and the relevant Regulation of the Minister of the Environment. The objectives of the program and the activities supported are determined by a Ministry of the Environment regulation. The amount allocated for grants varies from year to year, because it is directly dependent on the environmental charges received.
The environmental awareness program supports three areas of activity:
1. development and implementation of environmental educational activities based on active studies supporting national curricula;
2. organisation of environmental awareness-increasing activities and campaigns for pre-defined target groups;
3. participation in international environmental education-related cooperation.
Every area of activity in turn includes activities considered important from the viewpoint of environmental awareness.
